Meet The Apprentice – Daniel Kukielka

To celebrate our 2024 cohort of apprentices starting their journey with us, we have been chatting to some of our new starters to find out a bit more about them, and why they have chosen to join our team.

Our first catch up is with Daniel Kukielka, who joined us from Stockton Riverside College to be a Welder/Fabricator Apprentice.

Here is what he had to say:

What department do you work in?

“I work in welding and fabrication, which is a very hands-on role.”

What previous education did you receive?

“I went to Stockton Riverside College where I studied Sport, but I knew I wanted to doing something different that was more engineering focused.”

Was an apprenticeship always your ambition?

“I tried university before going down the apprenticeship route, but I soon realised it wasn’t the path for me. I changed to an apprenticeship with Intelect and it was definitely the right decision.”

What do you like to do away from work?

“Play football, watch football, anything football. I support Man City, so I enjoy watching them.”

What is your favourite part of the job?

“My favourite part about the job is being able to make something out of nothing, and being able to watch the progress you make as a project develops.”

Do you have any goals for the future?

“I would like to play a more important role within the business, by progressing and having an impact in the company. I want people to think “We need Danny!” because they know I will do a good job.”

What made you choose Intelect?

“Intelect was always my number one choice for an apprenticeship. I liked how the company felt personal, and how you get 1-1 help from the people round you, which you don’t always get when working for bigger companies.”

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

“Yes, I would. I think it is a better way of learning, rather than been stuck in a classroom all day. It is more of a hands-on job and a more fun way to learn.”
