Design Engineering Apprentice (Mechanical)

£6.40 per hour

Since 1998, apprenticeships have been the building blocks of the Intelect workforce, and have continued to be for the past 25 years as we have grown and progressed as a business. When it comes to apprenticeships, Intelect’s ethos has always been ‘train to retain’, and as such, we are now renowned for our award-winning program, gaining both local and national recognition and ranking 27th in the government’s Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers.

Our Level 3 Design and Draughtsperson apprenticeship is a three-year course, which includes training at Middlesbrough College.

This role requires the candidate to provide full commitment to a 40-hour week. Day to day work will involve the use of design applications such as AutoCAD / Inventor / Solidworks. The apprentice should have a basic understanding of these applications, however full training is provided. Working on several different engineering projects, the candidates will produce drawing packages for clients and the fabrication department.

Role Details

Design apprentices will work alongside the design team to deliver projects, and meet targets. They will develop and produce 2D and 3D drawings, and will be required to provide support in carrying out site surveys at various client locations, which will be followed up with drafting quotations based on the clients requests.

All apprentices will be provided with their own uniform. They will also receive additional on-going training, covering various aspects of health and safety to ensure they have the latest knowledge and information to hand.

Starting rate for the first year of the apprenticeship will be £6.40 per hour, however this will increase on a yearly basis in line with our apprentice pay structure – this will be discussed with candidates at the interview stage.
