Intelect Supports St Mary’s Football Club 25 Years On
St Mary’s Football Club has had a positive start to their season following the announcement of a new three-year sponsorship with local engineering company, Intelect.
The news comes almost a quarter of a century on from when the two organisations first crossed paths, as back in 1998, during Intelect’s second year of operation, St Mary’s were the company’s first grassroots sponsorship.
Both the club and Intelect celebrate significant anniversary’s this year, with St Mary’s Football Club celebrating their 75th, and Intelect their 25th, meaning there was no better time for the two to rekindle their partnership.
Now competing in the North Riding Football League Premier Division, a registered FA Level 7 league, St Mary’s is still continuing to provide community adult football in the Middlesbrough area from their base at the Kings Academy in Coulby Newham.
With no junior set-up infrastructure or large financial investment, the club have had to work hard to maintain their existence, relying on the generosity of local sponsorships, player fees and competition honours to keep it afloat.
Having been involved with the club since 2004, St Mary’s Chairman, Tony Wilson was thrilled to receive Intelect’s support saying, “Receiving the sponsorship from Intelect, who have been a local business in Middlesbrough for 25 years, fits really well with our own values as a club.
“On our 75-year anniversary as a football club, which has its own established history in Middlesbrough’s grassroots football community, it is amazing that Intelect have reconnected with us and agreed to support the continuation of this long-standing football club”.
Intelect’s Managing Director, Fran Cormican recently attended the club’s anniversary celebration, which saw players from all generations of the club’s history attend. At the event, Fran was presented with a framed shirt from the team as a thanks for the company’s support.
Fran said, “Supporting our local community is something we’re really passionate about. It’s great to see St Mary’s still succeeding as a club and giving hundreds of adults across Teesside an opportunity to enjoy themselves through grass roots football. We wish them all the best for the season!”
Intelect will remain the clubs main sponsor for three seasons.
