Meet The Apprentice – Jorge Thomas

 

Up next in our “Meet The Apprentice” series, we chatted with Jorge Thomas. He joined Intelect after completing a Level 3 BTEC in Electrical Engineering, and is currently an Electrical Apprentice within our company.

 

Here is what he had to say:

 

What department do you work in?

I am an Electrical Apprentice and work for our electrical installation team.

 

What previous education did you receive?

I completed my GCSEs at Macmillian Academy, then went on to complete my Level 3 BTEC in Electrical Engineering.

 

Was an apprenticeship always your ambition?

I always wanted to complete an apprenticeship because I wanted to get straight onto site doing practical work.

 

What do you like to do away from work?

In my spare time, I am currently training to be an amateur boxer.

 

What is your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part of the job is the variety of work that is available, as it means we are able to develop and improve a wide range of skills.

 

Do you have any goals for the future?

I want to hopefully progress through the company and gain more experience on the different sites that we work on, such as utilities and food and beverage manufacturing.

 

What made you choose Intelect?

Intelect has always been my preferred employer, due to its popularity with apprentices and respected reputation when it comes to training.

 

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

Yes, an apprenticeship is great for gaining knowledge and hands on training at the same time.
