Meet The Apprentice – Luca Mitchell
Continuing our “Meet The Apprentice” series, we spoke with Luca Mitchell. He joined Intelect after completing a Level 3 engineering course, to become an Electrical Apprentice within our company.
Here is what he had to say:
What department do you work in?
“I work in the electrical panel workshop, which gives me opportunities to gain experience both on and off site.”
What previous education did you receive?
“Before getting my apprenticeship, I studied A Levels as I felt this was the right next step for me. After that, I completed a Level 3 engineering course before securing my apprenticeship.”
Was an apprenticeship always your ambition?
“Yes, from speaking to family and friends, I realised that this was the best way to get into the line of work I wanted to be in.”
What do you like to do away from work?
“Away from work, I am into my fitness, as I like to go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I am also into dance music as well.”
What is your favourite part of the job?
“My favourite part of the job would be the hands-on aspect of it. I enjoy starting a new project, and creating something that started out as a blank canvas.”
Do you have any goals for the future?
“My goal eventually is to climb higher within the company, and take on more of a mentor role. I would like to be able to pass my knowledge down to the apprentices after me, transferring skills I learnt within my own apprenticeship.”
What made you choose Intelect?
“Intelect has a great reputation in regards to apprenticeships, and always make sure to look after their employees. From many recommendations, I realised it was the best place for me.”
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?
“Yes, I believe this was the best opportunity and has opened many doors for advancing my career. I feel like Intelect is somewhere I can stay and continue to grow.”
