National Recognition For Intelect’s Apprenticeship Programme As New Intake Welcomed
Intelect, an electrical and mechanical engineering company in Middlesbrough, has recently been adding to their growing list of awards recognitions, having most recently been selected as one of the three finalists in the Small/Medium Employer category at the national ECITB Training & Development Awards 2024!
Establishing their company in 1997, Intelect launched their apprenticeship programme just one year after opening. Since then, they have continued to remain committed to their programme, building on their success, which has led to over 150 apprentices passing through their doors.
Following a competitive two-step shortlisting process, Intelect emerged as a finalist, with the winner due to be announced at a special awards ceremony, taking place in London on Tuesday 5th November.
Intelect will join a wide range of representatives from the engineering and construction industry to celebrate the industry’s achievements in training and development, and are extremely proud to be a part of celebration. This recognition highlights their dedication to their apprenticeship program, as well as their continued positive impact in the engineering industry.
On announcing the finalists, Andrew Hockey, ECITB Chief Executive, said, “The standard of nominees this year was again incredibly high, showcasing the level of work happening across the industry from talent that deserves to be recognised. The ECITB Awards offer a platform for professionals and organisations to be acknowledged for their hard work and achievements in training and development.

This nomination comes just after Intelect were named one of the country’s most outstanding SME apprenticeship employers, after reaching 29th in this year’s Apprenticeships Top 50 SME Employers 2024. For a third year running, Intelect have featured in the Top 30 ranking, and continue their investment in their award-winning apprenticeship programme.
They also received this exciting news in the same month that they welcomed 12 new apprentices into their team. Following their record-breaking intake in 2023, this continuation of commitment shows just how much Intelect values their apprentices. They continue to prioritise the development of young talent, and work hand in hand with various training providers to ensure their apprentices receive the most efficient and effective education.
In total, Intelect now employs 42 apprentices across the company at varying educational levels, a 50% increase when comparing this to their apprenticeship figures from 2022. They believe that consistently bringing in new apprentices is a non-negotiable, helping them to combat challenges such as industry skills shortages, as well as enabling them to future proof their business.
