KP Snacks and Intelect join forces for Charity Family Fun Day

Teesside Hospice and Bloodrun

Middlesbrough-based engineering company, Intelect recently joined forces with long-term client and food manufacturer, KP Snacks, in order to host an employee family fun day and raise money for two local charities, Teesside Hospice and Bloodrun EVS.

The event was held at Norton Stockton Ancients Football ground, and saw over 250 people attend, with a grand total of £1,400 being raised throughout the day of fundraising.

Alongside there being a range of fun activities, the two companies also took part in a seven-a-side football tournament, which resulted in the Intelect Blue team coming out on top following a hard battle in the final against KP Snacks.

After working together for over 20 years, the two companies decided to partner up to raise vital funds for their chosen charities, all of whom rely heavily on donations and volunteers to operate their invaluable services.

Due to the pandemic, Intelect and KP had to hold off on their previous plans to host the day for a second time in 2019, however both companies were pleased when they got the go ahead for this year.

The £1,400 that was raised has since been split evenly between Teesside Hospice and Bloodrun EVS, an amount both charities were thrilled to accept.

Anne Cooling, Head of Corporate for Teesside Hospice said, “The recent family fun day hosted by Intelect and KP Snacks was enjoyed by everyone who attended. The donations raised from the fundraising activities will go towards supporting people and families who have been affected by a terminal illness.

“These donations will help Teesside Hospice ensure people receive the highest level of specialist palliative care and to stay as independent as long as possible. Teesside Hospice values our corporate partnership with Intelect and we hope this partnership continues for many years ahead.”

Gill Dixon, Secretary at Bloodrun EVS echoed Anne’s thanks, saying, “As a small local charity, Bloodrun EVS (Emergency Voluntary Service) is manned entirely by unpaid volunteers and is dependent on the generosity of local businesses and the public to continue to provide its free-of-charge urgent transportation service to, predominantly, our local NHS Trusts.

She continued, “This donation from Intelect and KP Snacks is most welcome and very gratefully received and will be an amazing help towards our current goal, which is to replace one of our aging vehicles.”

Intelect’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Lily Brothwood led the organisation of the fun day, she said, “It was fantastic to see so many people come together to support two fantastic local charities. Bloodrun and Teesside Hospice provide invaluable services to our local community, so we were really proud to be able to once again partner with KP Snacks to support them.

“As a Corporate Partner of Teesside Hospice, we understand the vital role they play when it comes to supporting patients who are suffering with terminal illness and their families. Selected by our employees as our charity of choice for 2022, we felt it was only right to make them our chosen charity for the fun day.”

Intelect pledges a fourth year of support to the High Tide Foundation and renews Corporate Partnership

Middlesbrough-based engineering company, Intelect has pledged to support the High Tide Foundation for a fourth consecutive year, renewing its Corporate Partnership and making a donation of £5,000 to assist the local charity with raising the aspirations of young people across the Tees Valley.

High Tide Chairman, Mark Easby and Intelect Managing Director, Fran Cormican.

Founded in 2012, the High Tide Foundation is dedicated to offering young people valuable career experiences and has seen significant growth over the last ten years. Despite the obvious challenges faced by the charity in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, they remained determined to continue to provide support to those who needed it most.

Moving many of their career programmes online, and with the help of local businesses and their fellow corporate partners, High Tide were able to deliver over 50 virtual work experience opportunities, and most recently they launched the Happy Hub, a resource that provides mental health and wellbeing support to young people.

At Intelect, supporting young people has been at the heart of their organisation since the launch of their award-winning apprenticeship programme back in 1998. Over the years, they have seen over 100 apprentices successfully pass through their doors, and now, more than ever, they are keen to reach even more young people with the help of High Tide.

Intelect Managing Director, Fran Cormican said, “We’re delighted to be renewing our corporate partnership with the High Tide Foundation for a fourth year, particularly as we celebrate our 25th year of operation as a business.

“Over the years, we’ve realised that the success we’ve had as a business wouldn’t have been possible without our ‘train to retain’ ethos and our apprenticeship programme, so we understand the importance of investing in the young people of our area, and keeping talent within the Tees Valley”.

High Tide Chairman, Mark Easby expressed his thanks to Intelect saying, “We are proud and privileged to have Intelect on board as Corporate Partners for 2022. Their ongoing commitment and support for the Foundation over the last few of years has been amazing.

He continued, “While the Foundation has undergone a period of digital transformation in response to the challenges faced during the pandemic, Intelect, along with our other Corporate Partners, have stepped up to ensure we can continue delivering our career programmes, raising aspirations, showcasing opportunities and increasing our impact for young people across our region."

On Saturday 22nd June, two Teesside businesses went head to head in a Charity Football Match, to support three charities from around the region. Middlesbrough based engineering company, Intelect and well-known crisp maker, KP Snacks, based in Billingham, organised the family fun day to raise money for Bloodrun EVS, Great North Air Ambulance and Zoe’s Place.

The event was held at Norton Football Club, and had activities suitable for the whole family, there was even a special visit from the KP Snacks Pom Bear!

Throughout the course of the day, over 200 supporters attended to cheer on the teams, with Intelect crowned victorious after a 2-1 win over the KP Snacks side.

After working together for over 20 years, the two companies decided to join together outside of the working world to raise vital funds for their chosen charities, all of whom rely heavily on donations and volunteers to operate their invaluable services.

Later that week, the KP Snacks Pom Bear made a second appearance, hand delivering three cheques with a total of £900 to the selected charities.

John Jobling, a representative from Bloodrun EVS, attended the event, and accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity, he said, “This generous donation will help us to reach the amount needed for us to replace one of our oldest bikes, a Honda Deauville, which is 18 years old.

“The new motorcycle will mean that volunteers can continue to ride safely and with confidence, when travelling between North East NHS Hospitals and Trusts, transporting blood.”

Captain of the Intelect team, and instigator behind the fundraiser, Jordan Garbutt said, “It’s so important that we keep providing support to the local charities in our area, you never know when you might need their help, so we’ve got to ensure they continue to receive the valuable funding they require.”

Following the success of the event, both teams are already planning a rematch for next year, and are hoping to make it an annual occurrence, so that they can continue to provide support to local charities.
